Yeah yeah we're a little late on the whole Oktoberfest thing but we made this pretzel bun, caramelized onion, cheddar, apple butter breakfast sandwich. Enjoy it with a witbier or whatever you drink in the morning.
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 breakfast sausages, precooked
2 thin slices of cheddar cheese
2 tbsp apple butter
1 tbsp chives
2 whole eggs
Chefs Life Cooking Oil
Heat a skillet over medium high heat. Add in 1 tsp Chefs Life Cooking Oil. Add in the onions, salt and sugar. Cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes or until caramelized, lowering heat as necessary. Set aside. Toast the pretzel bun in the toaster or in the oven. Cook the breakfast sausages according to the package instructions. Use the same skillet over medium high heat and add in 1 tbsp Cooking Oil. Once hot, add in the the whole eggs and fry sunny side up, about 3-4 minutes. Toss the chives on top of the eggs. Assemble the sandwich by topping the pretzel bun bottom with the warm sausage, apple butter, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and eggs, finishing with the pretzel bun top.
