Savory Heirloom Tomato + Creme Fraiche Tart
The ultimate picnic food- tomato tarts!! It is PEAK tomato season and they sure are juicy. Putting together this little tomato tart on croissant dough is as easy as saying joie de vivre.
1 container refrigerated croissant dough
1/2 cup créme fraiche
1 1/2 tbsp wholegrain mustard
2 tbsp shallots, sliced
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 tsp flaky sea salt
2 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced
1 container of cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
Chefs Life Finishing Oil
optional- microgreens to garnish
Begin by preheating the oven to 350. Roll out the croissant dough but do not break apart into triangles. Press the seams together so you get four individual tart squares. In a small bowl, whisk together the mustard, créme fraiche and salt. Spread the mustard mixture evenly over the middle of the each tart crust. Layer each tart with the tomatoes, shallots, and garlic slices, overlapping one another. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the corners are golden brown. Drizzle each tart with Finishing Oil, garnish with microgreens, and sprinkle with additional sea salt if desired.
